What is Telepath?

Telepath is the Real-Time Voice AI Infrastructure that bridges the gap between traditional telephony (PSTN/SIP) and modern AI Agents. It functions as a zero-latency WebSocket bridge, enabling direct connections between SIP carriers and AI voice providers.

Core Architecture

Telepath operates in four simple steps:
  1. A PSTN/carrier sends audio via SIP to Telepath
  2. Telepath converts SIP/RTP into a WebSocket stream
  3. An AI agent (OpenAI, ElevenLabs, or custom) processes the stream
  4. Telepath returns the response to the caller in real-time

Key Features

Ultra-Low Latency

Approximately 12ms bridge latency enables flawless, interruption-resistant AI voice conversations.

Natural Interruptions

Adaptive sensitivity ensures accurate end-of-turn detection in various environments with seamless barge-in capability.

Full Observability

Separate metrics track Carrier Lag, AI Latency, and Gateway Processing with 30-day retention of packet metrics and SIP traces.

Multiple AI Providers

Integrate with OpenAI Realtime, ElevenLabs Conversational AI, or custom WebSocket servers.

Supported Integrations

AI Providers:
  • OpenAI Realtime (gpt-4o-realtime-preview)
  • ElevenLabs Conversational AI
  • Custom WebSocket servers
Carriers: Twilio, Telnyx, Vonage, Bandwidth, SignalWire, and Plivo all supported with G.711 or G.722 codec compatibility.

Security & Compliance

  • AES-256 encryption for stored credentials
  • DTMF and custom SIP header support
  • Comprehensive call logging and analytics
  • Webhook-based call lifecycle notifications
  • Voice Activity Detection with natural interruption handling
